- English Language Arts (ELA)
- Core instruction is delivered through a Montessori-based curriculum
- Classroom time emphasizes:
- Hands-on learning
- Individualized instruction
- Collaborative classroom experiences
- Students also participate in two rotating enrichment subjects during in-person days
- Enrichment offerings change every eight weeks
- Enrichment may include:
- Botany
- Theatre
- Visual arts

- Robotics
- STEM
- Other creative and exploratory disciplines
- Enrichment classes are designed to spark curiosity, creativity, and real-world connection
HOW IT WORKS – AT HOME
- On at-home learning days (Tuesdays and Thursdays), families are provided with guided Math and ELA lessons to continue core learning at home. These days are intentionally designed to be flexible, developmentally appropriate, and family-centered. Parents serve as learning guides, supporting their child’s progress at a pace that works best for their household.
- Fridays offer additional flexibility and may be used as:
- Study other subjects within the curriculum (e.g. art, movement, and engineering lessons)
- A make-up day for completing at-home lessons, or
- A family-choice learning day, allowing families to pursue field trips, project-based learning, rest, or enrichment experiences that align with their values and interests.

FAQ
Where are you located?
4901 Bourine St., Fort Worth, Texas 76107
What grades do you serve?
Traditionally speaking, we serve grades kindergarten through 5th, however please see the FAQ “What are age bands” to learn more about how we structure our groups.
What are age bands?
Learners are grouped in mixed-age clusters—such as 5–7Y, 8–10Y—so children can learn at their own pace beyond traditional grade levels.
Are all of your teachers certified?
Though we do have certified teachers on staff, we do not strictly require certification for our teaching staff. We place a high value on experience and a genuine interest in alternative education methods.
Do you serve students with special needs?
Students with special needs or neurodivergent learners may participate in Fridays in the Park, as these are parent-child classes. For co-op programs, a family interview helps determine whether we can effectively support each child’s unique needs.
How much time is required for at-home learning?
At-home learning time varies by age and grade level but is intentionally designed to be manageable and developmentally appropriate, allowing families flexibility while maintaining academic consistency.
What is a hybrid school model?
Our hybrid model blends in-person classroom learning with at-home guided instruction. Students attend school two days per week for core academics and enrichment, while families guide learning at home on designated days with provided curriculum support.
What is the parent’s role in at-home learning?
Yes. Heritage Nature School is designed for homeschoolers, so parent participation is part of the educational model.
Do parents have to be involved in day-to-day learning?
Parents act as learning guides, supporting their child as they work through the provided lessons. No teaching background is required—materials and guidance are designed to be accessible and family-friendly.
Do you accept Texas Education Freedom Accounts funds?
Yes, Heritage Nature School is currently in the process of becoming an approved school to accept TEFA by Fall ’26.
Is Heritage Hybrid School Montessori-based?
Yes. Our core curriculum is Montessori-inspired, emphasizing hands-on learning, independence, individualized pacing, and respect for each child’s developmental stage.
